‘What’s the Buzz?’ Volume 15

Restaurants

Ivy Asia Chelsea, 203A King’s Road, London SW3 5ED

This new Ivy will open in the Summer (probably July – not yet confirmed) next to The Ivy Garden. Building on the success of The Ivy Asia by St Paul’s, it’s sure to be jam packed for a few weeks – perhaps signing up for their newsletter gives one a better chance.

Restaurants

Sam’s Riverside, 1 Crisp Road, London W6 9DN

Great food, great service and great views but BEWARE of the bread! The Hedone sourdough is SO delicious that it’s hard to leave room for anything else. DO REMEMBER, however, that residents’ parking doesn’t end until 10 pm.

Restaurants

The Sea, The Sea, 174 Pavilion Road, London SW1X 0AW

By day this is a fishmonger (and much more besides) with fish so fresh that they don’t even own a freezer. By night it is an amazing seafood and champagne bar – a very simple temple of fish.

Restaurants

NoMad Hotel and Restaurant, 28 Bow Street, London WC2E 7AW

Built on the site of the old Bow Street Magistrates’ Court, this is really close for the ROH and Somerset House. There are three ‘NoMad’ hotels in the US (LA, NYC and Vegas) and this is their first London venture. The decor is spectacular, the brasserie style food will be of the highest order.

Events at Somerset House

The London Design Biennale – 1 to 27 June

Designers from around the world test their imagination, filling the Courtyard with a forest 400 trees of 23 varieties as the centrepiece for an ambitious exhibition.

‘Dodge’ – 15 July to 22 August

Drink, Dine and Dodgems as well as bold installations from acclaimed artists. Where the ice rink enthralls in winter, this intriguing adventure takes over this summer.

Just add sunshine!

Van Gogh Happenings

Van Gogh – the Immersive Experience

This 360 degree exhibition is on at 106 Commercial Street, London E1 6LZ…  next to Spitalfields Market. It is on between August (sold out) and February with not many tickets available. You experience being in one of van Gogh’s masterpieces – breathtaking.

Van Gogh – Alive

On at the East Albert Lawn, Kensington Gardens, SW7 2AP, this exhibition has already been seen by more than 7 million people around the world. Another case of being inside images that take your breath away. It is only open from June to September.

The opinions in Maria Says are Maria’s (with some input from Julian). There is no intention to offend or to suggest that other views might not work just as well for others – we live by learning. However we steer away from politics, religion and intolerance. Also, we do not receive any reward for recommendations; we decided years ago to remain independent and not carry advertising or promote places, goods or services because we are paid to do so and we shall stick to that.
